Welcome to Aldinga Bay SLSC, and one of the best beaches around. As Club Captain, it is my responsibility to ensure that we provide lifesaving patrols during the season. Our season typically begins in early November, concluding at the end of March, with patrols operating every weekend and public holiday in between. The minimum qualification to become a lifesaver is a Bronze Medallion (or a Surf Rescue Certificate if you are under 15 years old). Is it hard to qualify for a Bronze Medallion?, absolutely not! The Bronze Medallion includes First Aid, rescue techniques and a few other components - all recognised by Australian Standards, meaning that you can utilise your qualifications in the workplace too. And once you have gained your Bronze, there are plenty more steps you can take within Surf Lifesaving, like Jet Rescue Boats and the Surf Lifesaving SA Rescue Helicopter - all of these craft are crewed by someone just like you! Don't worry if you think that your fitness or swimming ability might not be sufficient -we have excellent gym facillities at our clubrooms and we have regular swimming sessions too. Besides, you really don't need to be a champion Ironman to be a surf lifesaver. Interested?, then give me a call on 0407 714 910. Andrew Meyer, Club Captain |
